Machete gets his own film!!!!!!!!

For those of you who watched the Tarantino/Rodriguez helmed Grindhouse - you may remember one of the fake trailers was for a film called Machete.

Well it must have generated a lot of buzz because they've only went and made it into a feature length movie.

The synopsis reads "The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he's about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he's been set up. He barely survives the sniper's bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren't you!" Source IMDB

MacGruber

Austin Powers is probably the funniest film I've ever seen. Something seems to work well with combining espionage and comedy. Of late their haven't been too many worthy entries into the espionage comedy genre (Get Smart and I Spy being notable examples).

However that all may be about to change because here comes MacGruber.

Will Forte (of Saturday Night Live fame) looks set to make his name as the hapless action hero.

Russell Crowe..once again...loses it

Force of nature Russell Crowe has been at it again during an interview with presenter Mark Lawson of the BBC. After a series of questions regarding the origin of his accent as man in tights Robin Hood, Russell didn't turn green but he got angry!

Luckily for Mark there wasn't a phone nearby to be launched at his head in the style of the Mercer Hotel incident in Manhattan in 2005.

Have a listen to Russell losing it below :-

Reckon Lawsons name is on an arrow on his next visit!

New trailer hits for The Adjustment Bureau

Matt Damon and Emily Blunt are on the run in new Philip K Dick adaptation The Adjustment Bureau.

Support comes from John Slattery (Mad Men) and Terrence Stamp(The Limey) in this sci fi actioner where all is not as it seems.

Damon is a Senate candidate from New York who has a chance meeting with Blunt that sparks a romance. This, however, is not what's supposed to happen in his life, and the seemingly-omniscient men from the Adjustment Bureau step in to put him back on his proper path. Damon rejects them and he and Blunt run for their lives. Source IMDB

Intriguing - hell yeah

Inception - WhatsItAllAbout???

Now this has to be my most eagerly anticipated movie of 2010 (yes more so than Sex and The City 2!!!). "Your mind is the scene of the crime" we were told back around the release of the outstanding teaser trailers and months down the line am I any the wiser as to the synopsis of this sci fi puzzlebox?

Well a little...

Our all new and extended synopsis reads:-

"Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved.

Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossibleinception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime." Source IMDB

Now the cast alone is mouthwatering....

Leonardo DiCaprio... Cobb

Ken Watanabe... Saito

Joseph Gordon-Levitt... Arthur

Marion Cotillard... Mal

Ellen Page... Ariadne

Tom Hardy... Eames

Cillian Murphy... Fischer

Tom Berenger... Browning

Michael Caine... Professor

Lukas Haas... Nash

Add to that acclaimed director Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight,Memento) and you really can't go wrong.

Let Me In

Matt Reeves director of Cloverfield (2008) and the recently announced Cloverfield sequel will be helming a remake of the critically acclaimed swedish vampire thriller "Let The Right One In".

The chiller released in 2008 wowed critics and audiences alike with its inspired observation of the vampire condition from the perspective of its young protagonists. The initial reaction has been one of ho-hum hollywood rehash - so far.

I was inclined to agree until seeing the casting of Chloe Moretz (Kick Ass) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) in the lead roles. Without a doubt these two fine young actors are the breakthrough stars of 2010(so far) with fine performances in two excellent (albeit very different) movies.

I have seen Cloverfield on more than one occasion and found myself entertained but not overwhelmed perhaps largley due to the wishy washy largley unknown (to me) cast. The screenplay and direction however were the redeeming factors and I predict a similar approach coupled with the wonderful talents of the aforementioned young actors could result in a pleasing english language crossover.

The synopsis appears not to veer too far from the original stated as "A story of a young boy who is frequently bullied and a young girl that moves in next door with her caretaker. It is established that she is a vampire and, after losing her caretaker, must leave in order to survive. A story of innocent love entangled in murder, mystery, and horror. " Source IMDB

Moretz as Abby

As a footnote the always wonderful Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) and the ever versatile Elias Koteas (Shutter Island) will be in supporting roles making for a very interesting prospect methinks.
